- The year after this episode aired, Bryant Gumbel's older brother Greg, who unlike Bryant opted to have a career as solely a sports commentator rather than a multi topic journalist, would return to Nanny network CBS, where he previously worked from 1988 to 1994, after a four year career at NBC Sports. Among Greg's milestones following his return to CBS would be becoming the first African American to provide color commentary for a Super Bowl, which he first did for the 2001 Super Bowl. Bryant Gumbel would also outlive Greg, who died in December 2024.[1]
