"Danny's Dead and Who's Got the Will?" is the twelfth episode in the fourth season of the CBS sitcom The Nanny. It aired on the eighth of January in 1997.

Synopsis[]

Fran attends Danny's funeral and comforts his widow, Heather Biblow, after he died from an allergic reaction to back wax.

Plot[]

Maxwell plots to give Fran the weekend off to avoid her meeting with his grandmother, a secret that is betrayed by Niles. Fran insists on meeting the grandmother who is apparently worth $80 million and visits all of her family periodically to ensure that they are still up to her standards. The grandmother is overbearing continually critiquing Fran's fashion choices as well as Niles cleaning though she does seem fond of C.C.. Fran's antics are kept in check by Maxwell's continual mentions of the $80 million. Fran is distraught at the news of her late fiance Danny's death and attends the funeral in tiger print to pay tribute to the nickname he had given her "my little tiger". Upon arrival most of the guests appear to also be sporting tiger print. There Fran meets a man that she believes shares a similar story to her own in that he loved a man that would not acknowledge him to his family and has now been completely excluded by the family after his love's death. Fran loses sympathy after hearing that they were officially married unlike Fran and Mr. Sheffield. Fran returns to the Sheffield home and demands a commitment, quitting her job when Maxwell cannot step up to the plate. Maxwell's grandmother is confused about the relationship between Fran and Maxwell.

Fran is shown to be working at a department store (Loehmans perhaps?) behind a makeup counter. While on the job she shops, goofs off with Val, and goes for lattes in the food court as is revealed by her angry manager who informs Fran that she has been monitored via security camera. The children and Niles demand that Maxwell make things right with Fran and bring her home. Maxwell arrives at the department store and informs Fran that he has put his love for her (literally, just that he loves her and her informed her of this, not money) in his will. She tricks him into quoting the will onto the department store intercom prompting wailing from C.C. who had been shopping for lingerie following Fran's departure from the Sheffield household.

Grandma Sheffield is shown discussing her suspicions about Fran and Maxwell with Yetta who calls her senile and states that they've been married for years. When Grandma Sheffield says that Yetta is the only person not after her money Yetta is sure to spell out her full legal name for her.
